Marike Kleynscheldt is a young artist from Cape Town, South Africa who works in traditional mediums, creating acrylic paintings and pencil drawings, with a fresh, slightly irreverent, and beautiful aesthetic. I stumbled across her work as I was searching for images of onions and garlic (a personal interest of mine), and her work stopped me in my tracks. I was amazed to learn in a brief bio that she has no formal training and has only been painting since 2007.
