In theseearlierposts, I highlighted art made from recycled goods. Zac Freeman is another resourceful and inventive artist who creates expressive portraits out of recycled junk and found objects. There's something so intriguing about finding the domino, altoids tins, bride & groom cutouts, and dolls in the self-portrait below, and then pulling back to focus on the intense gaze. These striking images create a kind of optical illusion reminiscent of Chuck Close, where it's almost impossible to focus on the face and the objects at the same time.
