Ann Marshall, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, spent time as an ethnographer, consumer anthropologist, and children's book illustrator before focusing on portraits and fine art. Many of her creations include layered collage imagery in backgrounds reminiscent of Gustav Klimt and the portraits are created by hand with oil paint or pastel. Each of these quiet and mysterious female portraits seem to tell a beautiful and complex visual story.
