Ron Mueck Pregnant Woman

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: Women and their babies inspect a 2.5 metre high sculpture of a pregnant women by Australian artist Ron Mueck which is in display at the National Gallery of Victoria, in Melbourne 24 February 2005. The body is made of fibreglass and the face of silicone so that human hair could be punched in by a sharp needle, one by one. Everything from the woman's translucent skin through to her fingernails, hair and exhausted expression almost convince you she is a living, breathing subject.
